I’ve been working with React Native professionally since 2018. During this time, I’ve watched Expo grow from a simple framework extension to a cornerstone in the React Native ecosystem. As 2023 draws to a close, this article delves into how Expo has transformed the landscape of mobile app development with React Native, and outlines the reasons why I would recommend building a React Native app with Expo in 2024.

One of the standout features of Expo is the speed and ease with which developers can start a new project. The tooling provided by Expo simplifies the process of scaffolding a project, allowing developers to focus more on building their application rather than setup and configuration. The provision for quickly adding essential elements like app icons and splash screens further streamlines the development process, making Expo a go-to choice for rapid development. It’s the perfect tool for building and iterating quickly.
